There was a piece of poem that I wrote previously called "Death of The Old Kingdom", which I had intended to turn into a piece of music for a particular project that I am also working on. This is the result of the musical transformation.

I have to say however, this is still work in progress - it's not the final song. The final song will be more upbeat and a with a lot more synth going on - to reflect the nature of the project I am working on as well. As for this "indie ballad" version, this is just to help me warm up and look for melodies and what not - and boy was that hard. Especially so because this has not been sung by anyone before so I can't really imitate the singer. There wasn't any. What you're listening to is me trying my best to sing the melodies. It was sang in D minor, with vocal spanning from Ab3 to A4. I remembered saying I envisioned this to be sung in C minor progression, but I decided to lower, at least for this piano acoustic version anyway. I still don't know if I'll be singing this or I'll pay someone else to sing it for me just. I might ask the same guy who did the vocal for my first song but I'm not sure if he has the range. Also, if you read the original poem, this song is much shorter because it will be a long song if I were to include all the verses in the poem.

The music video however, well, it's a bit of a rush job but it sort of give a bit of a clue as to what kind of project this song will be tied to - the final version anyway. In terms of mixing, let's just say I have learned quite a bit more about mixing vocals and music. They are not easy but considering I enjoy learning anyway, I don't mind it. It's always good to learn new things.

Anyway, I'm going to relax for a bit. At least I have a melody now. Again, the final version will be a bit more upbeat - more alt-synth/indie kind of vibe. Might take a while though, so don't hold your breath! By the way, the piano, it wasn't me. I have a somebody I would call "the.anonymous.eightyeight" to thank.
