I Made Myself a Cinema Room!
It has been a while since I uploaded any videos on YouTube.
I moved to Surrey since last August/September and have been busy trying to make a house, a home. I am not 100% there yet with my home improvement projects, though, slowly but surely getting there.
I have completed my cinema/media room, which I am excited to reveal to you. This is where I will watch my favourite films, play with my MIDI keyboard and do my recording. During the daytime, I could also use it as a formal type of meeting room. I also use it as my gaming room. Gaming as in PS4. I'll show you what it looks like, before and after, and I will also show you the screening demo of how the projector fare.
I got myself a Hisense C1 Trichroma 4K laser projector and also installed a simple Hisense surround sound system. Not very fancy but it will do for my needs. I will show you the screen quality watching terrestrial tv, playing video on YouTube, Gran Turismo Sport on PS4, and watching film on Netflix.
Speaking of screen, I did not install any special screen. It was basically the wall that I have painted with a matt bright white paint, and framed it. The frame was made using IKEA Hejne posts cut to size, and covered with vinyl wrap. Cheap and quick. The rest of the wall was painted with Dulux Easycare Faded Indigo. The room needs to be painted in predominantly matt paint to help reduce light reflection. Matt paint helps absorb some of the light. I also installed a wooden venetian blind to cover the window, with an additional full-length velvet curtain, which not only darkens the room but also acts as sound-proofing.
Whilst the 2-seater velvet couch was purchased new, I bought the 2 velvet club chairs from a shop at the recycling centre nearby. They cost £30 for a pair, and I had to steam-clean them. I am not a big fan of velvet but I did make exception for this room because of its ability to absorb sound. I also placed many empty boxes on the back wall to help with that.
One thing I need to try out is to actually record a song in this room. I shall do that sometime and post it in a different video.
I am very pleased with how the room turned out. I still have many other projects to finish and once they are completed, I will reveal them to you.
This video and the demos were recorded using my Nikon Z6II.
